The Silver Star by Jeannette Walls
My rating: 3 of 5 stars
Beautiful story of two sisters who are brought up by a mother who is less than competent. The family is dysfunctional and mom neglects them until finally she leaves them on their own for a length of time. They resort to their own resources to fend for themselves. They were running out of the pot pies that she feeds them so Bean and Liz decided to travel to an uncle who lives in a very run down mansion. They travel from California to Virgian and here they learn about their mother and her young life.
