The Cat's Table by Michael Ondaatje
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
I loved this story. It took me to a far away place and back to childhood. Michael is 11 and is being sent by ship to England to join his mother. He meets other boys and they experience life aboard ship together.
The book moves smoothly between the fifties and present time here in Canada. It is so realistic that I wonder if this was based on the author's own experiences.
