Breaking the Silence by Diane Chamberlain
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
A bit of a mystery. A father dies and makes his daughter, Laura, promise to look after a lady, Sarah, who has alzheimers in a nursing home. He makes her promise. She has no idea how the father knows the woman. Her own mother died when she was seven. A short time later, her elderly husband commits suicide in the presence of their four year old daughter. The little girl, once very outspoken, stops talking after seeing her father kill himself. The story unfolds in a very unpredictable way. Very good read.
