Ava is struggling to raise her son, Lewis, on her own after her husband left her. Her son's best friend, Jimmy, goes missing one day and appears to have dropped right off the earth. Jimmy's sister Rose is unable to move on. Among the many suspects are an array of Ava's boyfriends.

A very satisfying read.
