Review: Sons

Sons Sons by Pearl S. Buck
My rating: 2 of 5 stars

Just couldn't get involved in this story the same as I did The Good Earth. Will probably give the next one in the series a miss.

Review: Big Driver

Big Driver Big Driver by Stephen King
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Excellent novella by Stephen King. A woman writer is an invited speaker to various locations in libraries and other venues throughout the year and she is planning on using the money she is gifted as her retirement. On one of her talking engagements, the librarian there was very helpful in guiding her to a better, shorter route for her return home. When she arrives at a certain spot in the road, there are pieces of wood with nails poking up and she is unable to stop in time to avoid a flat tire. A big fellow driving a truck came to her rescue and her ordeal began.

A great read with a great ending.

Review: 1922

1922 1922 by Stephen King
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

A powerful novella. The story opens with Wilfred confessing to murdering his wife and recruiting his son to assist. He then goes into all the details of the murder and the horrible aftermath of the terrible act.

I have always been creeped out by the thought of rats but now, OMG!

Review: In This Grave Hour

In This Grave Hour In This Grave Hour by Jacqueline Winspear
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Only a couple of books left for me in this series and I am going to really miss the story. In this installment WWII has been declared and it will be all hands on deck again for Maisie and Pris. There have been children billetted at the Dower House and one little girl in particular is unknown and unidentified. As well as looking for a murderer, Maisie and Billie take on the job of trying to discover who the little girl is and where her family is.

Another excellent read.

Review: Bridge of Clay

Bridge of Clay Bridge of Clay by Markus Zusak
My rating: 1 of 5 stars

Have given this one star because I like the writer. It usually takes awhile to get into a book fully, but in this case it was so mixed up, and very odd, it didn't take shape at all for me.

Review: Journey to Munich

Journey to Munich Journey to Munich by Jacqueline Winspear
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

*the characters
*the main idea
*the plot or what it's done with the idea
*the style of writing
*the ending

In this episode Maisie steps into real danger when she tries to locate and liberate a VIP from Dachau Concentration Camp. Maisie is trying to get her life back. Since losing her husband and unborn child she has been floundering but she is coming out of the darkness and I believe she is deciding to put her fantastic skills back into working order.

An excellent ending in this episode.
